We have handled a wide variety of dog bites over the years. Following are examples of recent cases we have successfully handled:
- One of our clients was a young lady in her early thirties who walked across her front yard and onto the street to talk to one of her neighbors. Another neighbor opened their garage door when they arrived home. However, they had left an interior side garage door open, with that door leading to the fenced in back yard and the large aggressive dog contained therein. That dog left the fenced in area and went through the door, into the garage, and out the open garage door and into the street. It literally jumped into the air and bit down on our client’s face, ripping off her nose and bone. She lost 95% of her nose, which was then rebuilt through two years of plastic surgery. All available insurance limits were eventually paid and she made a beautiful recovery from her injuries despite two years of excruciating pain and surgeries.
- Dog bite cases do not necessarily require a bite. We have had several cases in which dogs ran out in front of, or into, bicyclists, knocking them to the ground. These cases have resulted in replaced knees, concussions, broken bones, and surgeries. One of our jobs is to find applicable insurance. Homeowner’s policies may contain general liability coverage which often covers instances involving dogs, and even instances in which the dogs are off the owner’s property.
